Additional Retail Space Here

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

PRO EM Distinctive Events recently provided tents, high intensity lighting, generators, power distribution, light towers, and fueling services to Sports Authority locations across Colorado and Idaho for the annual “Sniagrab.” sale.  For those of you not familiar with your retail-speak ’Snigrab’ is ’Bargains’ spelled backwards.

The tents provide an additional 10,000 sq ft of retail space at each participating Sports Authority location from August through October and assist in moving much more of the ”sdoog.”

Meet the PRO EM Event Managers…

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

It takes a team of professionals to produce the hundreds of events every year for our PRO EM customers.  Our operations department is responsible for the delivery of equipment, set-up and removal and making sure the event starts on time and runs as planned.  From tents, tables, chairs, to tabletop items, fencing and power, event managers help keep the projects on track and on time.

Meet the PRO EM event management superstars:

Phyllis Campos

Phyllis Campos

PHYLLIS CAMPOS was born in Hayward, California and moved to Arizona when she was 4 years old. Phyllis has been working in the event industry since she was 19. Her favorite things are: hearing her son laugh, watching sports, sushi with friends, escaping in movies or books and learning about her heritage.

I started working in the event business 13 years ago because: I had already managed my own retail store out of state and was looking into doing something new. I stumbled across this industry through a temp agency. I was involved in major events my first 6 months into the position where I experienced the fast-paced production and varying specifications of each event…which eventually became overwhelmingly fulfilling professionally.
The best part of my job is: Variety and organized chaos. I work best under pressure and the position never gets dull. There is also a great satisfaction gained from a successful event operated to the clients’ exceeded expectations and happiness.

Holly Williams

Holly Williams

HOLLY WILLIAMS was born in Newport Beach, California and moved to Arizona when she was 3 years old. She started out in the event industry at 17 and has been hooked ever since.

My top five clients I work with are: Phoenix Pride, Salt River Pima Indian Community, Anthem Community Center, Extraordinary Events and New Belgium Brewing Company

The best part of my job is: Client interaction, working with our team and seeing events through from start to finish.

Lauren Olsen

LAUREN OLSEN is originally from Phoenix and went to Northern Arizona University where she majored in Hospitality Administration. When she is not working she enjoys traveling and the outdoors.

I started working in the event business 2 years ago because: I have always been very interested in events and always wondered how they come together. I was referred by a friend to Event Management, and I was hooked.  Now I can really appreciate all the components that come together to create an event.

My top five clients I work/worked with are: Arizona State University, Discount Tire, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix.

Glenn Rea

Glenn Rea

GLENN REA was born in New Jersey and has been in the event management business since 1984. He has traveled extensively with major music acts in different management roles and has overseen hundreds of events of all different types.

My top five clients I work/worked with are: Phoenix International Raceway, Arizona State University, the WM Phoenix Open, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the Insight Bowl.

If I wasn’t working in Event Management I would: be in an institution wearing a straight jacket, I would miss Events so much!

The best part of my job is: as Senior Event Manager I take a Clients’ idea and turn it into a successful event with them.

Pete Peters

Pete Peters

PETE PETERS was raised as an Army brat and has had the pleasure of traveling to various places and spending twelve years living in Germany. He relocated to Arizona in 1988 and has worked in sales, the Resort/Convention business with Pointe Hilton Resorts and in the event business for almost six years now with PRO EM.

My top five clients I work/worked with are: City of Scottsdale and WestWorld, Good Guys Rod and Custom Show, USDAA Fiesta Cluster Dog Show, Parada Del Sol Rodeo and the Arizona Cardinals.

If I wasn’t working in Event Management I would: be involved in some sort of customer service industry or sales.

The best part of my job is: variety and challenges that each client and venue bring us the opportunity to work with and overcome.

Carl Johns

Carl Johns

CARL JOHNS is a native of Phoenix.  His career path has run the spectrum of dishwasher at a Children’s Home to construction worker; from equipment rentals to the Arizona Biltmore where he found his way to the hospitality/event industry.

  • I started working in the event business 7 years ago because: I was looking for a job…I stayed in the event business because it was challenging, fun, and I still continue to learn something new every  day.
  • My top five clients I work/worked with are: the Arizona Cardinals, Cricket Pavilion, Global Spectrum at University of Phoenix Stadium, the WM Phoenix Open and Arizona State University.
  • The best part of my job is: that it changes daily. In this business you are constantly provided with new challenges, and opportunities to think outside the box.

The best part of my job is: everyday there is a different challenge. Also the surroundings can change, from setting tents in middle of Death Valley for the military to setting up a wedding at some of Arizona’s finest golf courses.  It still amazes me how we have the ability to transform an bare open parking lot, field or park into a place to hold some of the biggest festivals, concerts and weddings around.

to Arizona in 1986 from Naperville, Illinois. He started in the event business wearing several hats from Project Lead to Operations Manger with Ascot Rentals.

I started working in the event business 25 years ago because: I wanted to help people see their idea, matched with the correct rental equipment, used in the best way to make their event perfect for them.  My main focus is taking large or unique events and finding the solution to make your event succeed.

The best part of my job is: seeing a site go from bare dirt to high-end event in a very short time and I am lucky to work for many customers that both of us feel the win; win is the goal!

My top five clients I work/worked with are: The Thunderbirds, Phoenix International Raceway, US Senior Open, Phoenix Pride, and Collin Cowie Event Group.
